Many opportunities to improve people’s lives are available through the Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring. The Foundation supports and raises funds solely for the benefit of our community and the programs that promote the well being of area families. With the help and support from people and community organizations like yours, we are confident that our long-term goals can be reached and together we can make a difference in our community and in our world.
As we move forward into 2009 the Foundation has chosen to assist the following organizations:
- ALZHEIMER'S FAMILY ORGANIZATION
o Provides respite care funding which assures in-home relief to caregivers of individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s and other related dementias
- B.E.S.T PROGRAM
o Provides scholarships and/or funds used to support after school and summer programs with particular emphasis on the health care careers.
- BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB
o Provides a safe and supervised after school environment for children ages 5 - 17. Mentoring, Tutoring, Educating and Feeding our Future.
- BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB - LACOOCHEE
o Christmas presents for the children
- EAST HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
o Fully funding the construction of a home for a qualified Habitat for Humanity applicant. In 2009 the recipient is a Florida Medical Clinic employee in the Radiology Department.
- EAST PASCO YMCA
o Fully funding the Teen Extreme program emphasizes life skill training, community service, leadership training and goal setting for teens and adolescents in east Pasco County.
- FARM WORKERS SELF HELP, INC
o Supports the “My Other House” center, an oasis of safety for teenagers living in an otherwise crime compromised community. These disadvantaged teens are fed and given an opportunity to participate in character building activities and where they can receive counseling and guidance.
- FMC HEALING ARTS STUDIO
o Provides weekly art instruction and supplies to cancer survivors and their families in Foundation of Caring funded on-campus art studio.
- FRIENDS OF JOSHUA HOUSE
o Supports abused, abandoned, and neglected children of Joshua House through resource development, investment and governance, through self-help training and services specific to life skills development
- GCNAHEC (Gulfcoast North Area Health Education Center Inc.)
o A USF affiliated program which supplies and distributes health care services to medically underserved areas of Florida’s most vulnerable populations
- HEARTWALK (American Heart Association)
o Money allows the Foundation to have a team in the Heartwalk and help support research for cures
- HERNANDO-PASCO HOSPICE
o Provides medical, emotional, social and spiritual services
- HERNANDO-PASCO HOSPICE - CAP
o Provides support and comfort for grieving children in Pasco, Hernando and Hillsborough County, specifically funding a weekend camp for older children and three day camps for younger children.
- MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER
o Helps fund research to cure Breast Cancer
- MORNING STAR SCHOOL
o Provides financial support in the form of tuition scholarships to families of students with learning disabilities.
- MS BIKE RIDE (NATIONAL MS SOCIETY)
o Research to find cause and treatment of MS
- PAINT YOUR HEART OUT TAMPA BAY
o This is a city-wide program that enables citizens, business clubs and organizations to lend a helping hand by painting the homes of low-income elderly citizens in the community.
- PILOT CLUB OF ZEPHYRHILLS
o Provides a grant to this local service organization for an annual free children’s Health & Safety Fair. The funding provides car seats, fitted helmets, bicycles and education/instruction for the safety of local children.
- R.A.G.E. RATTLESNAKE AND GOPHER ENTHUSIASTIC
o Underwrite the cost of T-Shirts for the Rattlesnake Run.
- SUPPORT OUR TROOPS
o Support Our US Troops provides some comforts of home and sends well wishes to thousands of front line troops. Funds the cost of shipping packages to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan.
- TAKE STOCK IN CHILDREN (Pasco Education Foundation, Inc.)
o Four year college education guaranteed to eligible middle school students to qualifying mentorship program.
- USF WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP AND PHILANTHROPY
o USF affiliated program which endows a scholarship in the health related field to women in compromised and atypical life situations.
- VSA ARTS OF FLORIDA
o Foundation of Caring will fund a program in four Pasco County schools which provides on site instruction for visual art teachers to enable them to work with disabled students. A disabled artist will participate in this training.
